The CMM education program is in two parts:
- Chicago History is taught at the elementary school level in Chicago Public Schools. The museum has a curriculum that meets state standards that social study teachers can use to teach Chicago history to their class. The curriculum ties to the exhibits at the museum. Teachers can research the background of the history in the history section of this site. Class visits to the museum can be booked in advance.
- The museum has classes to teach wood carving, ship in a bottle and ship/boat model building. Whether as a hobby or to make a model of your own boat, model building is a fascinating and challenging undertaking. A good model is a work of art and its creator is truly an artist! Classes can be booked for either the museum or another site if there are six or more students for the class. Descriptions of the courses, registration and payment can be found on the model building page.
