ship in a bottle class

Register: Ship-in-the-bottle Class

Ship in the Bottle:
 Learn the age old secret

Over the course of eight weeks, in two-hour sessions/week, students will learn to design and construct a simple ship-in-the-bottle using traditional methods and materials. By the end of the course, students will have completed a ship-in-the-bottle and will have learned the skills and techniques to design and construct future projects.

The age range for this class is ten years old to adult. Skill range is “beginner,” or “all skill levels.”

Students will come away with their completed ship-in-the-bottle and the skills necessary to design and construct further and more elaborate ships-in-the-bottle. Skills acquired during the course will include the ability to interpret drawings and/or photos of ships and boats of various kinds, selecting a bottle of a suitable shape for the intended subject and adapting the vessel to ship-in-the-bottle construction.

Materials will be supplied for the class and will include bottles, wood, paint, glue, paper, thread, small carving tools, modelling clay

We offer four rotational sessions: Winter 2020 (Jan-March), Spring 2020 (April-June), Summer 2020 (July-Aug), & Fall 2020 (Sept-Nov)
