Big Shoulders, Wet Feet opens Friday, May 15th at the Chicago Maritime Museum, bringing together artists whose work considers water not simply as subject matter, but as force, memory, structure, atmosphere, labor, ecology, and lived environment throughout Chicago and the broader regional watershed.
The exhibition features work by Curtis Anthony Bozif, Jane Michalski, Cathleen Cramer, Bruce Riley, Maria Mariottini, Sally Traxler-Lavengood, Amanda Brodie Stenlund, Megan Williamson, and Emily Pruyn.
The exhibition remains on view through July 22nd and concludes with the museum’s Sailgating celebration, an outdoor evening of Great Lakes maritime folk music held in the Bridgeport Art Center sculpture garden in honor of the Chicago Maritime Museum’s 10th anniversary.
