VISIT THE MUSEUM

ATTENTION: DUE TO THE PRESENT SPREAD OF COVID- 19 AND THE DAMAGE CAUSED BY THE MID-MAY SEWAGE BACKUP, THE CMM IS CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.  REOPENING THE MUSEUM AS CONDITIONS IMPROVE WILL BE REASSESSED BY THE BOARD.  CHECK THE STATUS ON THESE WEBPAGES IN THE WEEKS TO COME.

Visit Us!

The Chicago Maritime Museum is located on the River Level of the Bridgeport Art Center. Please go to the NORTH side of the building on the corner of 34th place and Racine. Here you will find FREE parking. The easiest way to find the museum from the parking lot is to go through the BLUE door directly under the BLUE awning and down the stairs to the River Level. You can’t miss us!​

  • Coming from 90/94 W (South suburbs/Indiana) – follow 90/94W, take exit 55A, turn left on W 35th st
  • Coming from 90/94 E (North/Northwest suburbs/Wisconsin) – follow 90/94E, take exit 55A, turn right on W 35th st
  • Coming from 290E (Northwest suburbs) -follow 290E to 90/94E/Ryan Expwy toward Indiana, merge onto 90/94E, take exit 55A, turn right on W 35th st
  • Coming from 294S/I-55N (North/ West suburbs)– follow 294S to I-55N, merge onto I-55N, take exit 290 towards Ashland Ave, merge onto W 31st place, turn right on S Wood St, turn left on W 35th st
  • Coming from I-55N (Southwest/ West suburbs)– follow I-55N, take exit 290 towards Ashland Ave, merge onto W 31st place, turn right on S Wood St, turn left on W 35th st
  • Coming from US-41N (Lake Shore Drive)– head north on Lake Shore Drive, take exit to 31st st, turn left on E 31st st, turn left on S Wentworth Ave, turn right on W 35th st
  • Coming from US-41S (Lake Shore Drive)– head south on Lake Shore Drive, merge onto I-55S, take exit 293B to merge onto 90/94E, take exit 55A, turn right on W 35th st​

  • Closest train stops are Orange and Red Line; closest bus stops are 35th and Racine (Bus #35) and Ashland and 35th (Bus #9)
  • Red Line– Get off at 35th-Sox stop, take Bus #35 9 stops, get off at 35th and Racine, walk 1 minute to 1200 west 35th st
  • Orange Line– Get off at Ashland stop, take Bus #9 3 stops, get off at Ashland and 35th, walk 10 minutes to 1200 west 35th st
